Summer is over this weekend, and the political season will kick into high gear. Is Illinois in play for President Donald J. Trump? Last week the Chicago area saw several events and gatherings in support of the President. These also included “Back the Blue” rallies in support of the police.
On Friday, Brandon Straka led a “Rescue America” rally as part of his WalkAway Tour going around the country. About 300 hundred people met at Wrigley Field in Chicago for the event. “WalkAway” is a group of former Democrats that left the Democrat party to support President Trump.
The event was emceed by John Anthony, a radio personality on WIND 560-AM. Appearing on stage along with Brandon Straka was Joy Villa. She has appeared twice at the Grammy Awards wearing a Trump dress. She is promoting her new book titled “Kickass Conservative.”
Also on stage were Olivia Rondeau, Maj Toure, Mike Harlow, Karlyn Borysenko, and Y.G. Nyghtstorm. Y.G. is featured in the video above dancing to the patriotic song “God Bless the USA” by Lee Greenwood.
There were a handful of counter protesters but a large police presence kept the peace. The WalkAway group is very supportive of the police along with law and order.
On Sunday, a Trump rally was held Bull Valley Golf Club in Woodstock, Illinois. The event started with a car parade in town. Over 2000 people attended throughout the day, according to the organizers. Gary Rabine spearheaded the event with help from Julie Cho and many others.
