Knowing that Mark Shaw was not going to continue as Lake County Republican chairman before I attended the Lake County Republican Convention at the Round Lake Beach Civic and Cultural Center on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 event, I thought it was appropriate to report who replaced Mark Shaw as Republican chairman of Lake County.
At the event, each township had its own table for seating its precinct committee members.
Retiring Mark Shaw presided over the beginning part of the program, at which time the information from a tally sheet filled out by each Lake County Township precinct captain was given to Shaw, which reflected the number of precinct committee members present and the weighted vote
Keith Brin, new Lake Co GOP Chairman
s for each member (the number of votes cast in their precincts).
Since Mark Shaw was not running for re-election as Lake County chair, Larry Falbe was appointed as chairman pro tempore to run the election for the new Lake County chair. Mr. Falbe is Lake County Republican Federation President.
Glen Garamoni of Freemont Township 120 nominated Keith Brin of Precinct 214 Moraine Township for nomination for Chairman of Lake County Republican Party.
As there were no other nominations from the floor, Mr. Brin was approved as the new Lake County Republican chair through a vote of acclamation.
Mr. Falbe offered his congratulation to Keith Brin. In so doing Falbe discharged his final duty of the night as pro tempore chair.
Speaking as the new Lake County chair, Keith Brin cited his nomination as a "humbling experience" and that he stood on the backs of the chairmen who have come before him. Brin likewise expressed a desire to bring Republican values to Illinois and beyond.
Mr. Brin then asked all present to join in honoring former Lake County chair, Mark Shaw, who had certainly earned the respect of the attendees at the Round Lake Beach Civic and Cultural Center for his years of dedication and service.
Mark Shaw, IL GOP SSC – 10th CD
Although no longer Lake County chair, Mark Shaw was elected to represent, by acclamation, the 10th District as its State Central Committee representative.
