Former Obama AG Eric Holder just showed his incredible ignorance when he insulted every American, our ancestors, and our Founding Fathers. When discussing Trump’s MAGA theme Holder said, “I hear these things about “Let’s make America great again” and I think to myself, exactly when did you think America was great”.
Clearly Mr. Holder flunked his high school history courses! First America became great when our Founding Fathers defeated the strongest military in the world to win our freedom and then they created our magnificent Constitution and Bill of Rights which the whole world has admired since then.
Then more than 600,000 Americans died to free the slaves in our Civil War before most other nations in the world ended slavery. Then 3 million American soldiers risked their lives to save Western Europe in WWI when it was about to be conquered by Germany. Next America saved Europe’s and Asia’s freedom in WWII after Germany and Japan defeated all of Western Europe except Britain, China, and most of Asia. We did that with millions of US soldiers, billions of our tax dollars, and by being the “Arsenal of Freedom” providing our allies the food and weapons that they needed to survive and win. We then generously rebuilt Western Europe with billions of dollars of our money under the Marshall Plan. And then America defeated the USSR to end the Cold War without firing a shot which brought freedom to tens of millions of people in Eastern Europe.
America continues to be the most generous nation in the world with government and private charitable contributions to help other countries. On top of that, while more than 80% of our NATO allies have broken their 2% GDP promise to invest in their own self-defense, America invests 175% of its NATO promise and pays to keep tens of thousands of American soldiers in many of our NATO partner’s countries to defend them with our “blood and treasure”. America is also the inventor of much (if not most) of the technology and medicine that dramatically increased the life spans and the quality of life of people around the world. On top of all that, America is the most powerful and prosperous nation in the world with the biggest and most prosperous middle class. If all that is not great, what the heck is? And if America is not great, why do more than one million people from around the world legally immigrate to America every year which is more than any other nation in the world?
Just like the Democrat Governor of New York Andrew Cuomo who said, “America was never that great”, Holder’s despicable comments are either an example of profound ignorance or of liberal hatred for our great nation. Sadly, while our schools used to teach students why America was the greatest nation on Earth so that our kids understood why they were so lucky to be Americans, too many schools don’t teach that anymore. Now they teach that there are no winners and losers in the world; every country is equal and the same. Ask the folks in Venezuela about that!
