SPRINGFIELD – After State Rep. Jeanne Ives, R-Wheaton, spoke out on the House floor against SB 193, Tuesday, Republican House members voted to stop a new task force being established in the state attorney general's office. Ives said the bill that Governor Rauner had already vetoed would create a “Worker Protection Unit” within the Office of the Attorney General to further over-regulate the business industry on labor issues.
The bill failed on a vote of 67-49, short the required 71 votes to override the Governor's veto. Ives' comments:
