I posted here on Nov. 9 that all Americans regardless of how they voted should pray for our new President-elect and I still hope everyone will.
But sore winners will not help the new President unite the country. Trump adviser and former House Speaker Newt Gingrich said to Sean Hannity on Fox Thursday night that he wanted to throw #NeverTrump Republicans on the ash bin of history.
This statement was foolish because several Republican senators did not vote for Donald Trump and he will need their votes to confirm cabinet officers. Just one senator can place a hold on any nomination and delay the vote for months and just a few can defeat the confirmation completely.
So if Gingrich wants to be confirmed by the Senate maybe he should set aside harsh campaign rhetoric and copy the more gracious tone that President-Elect Trump set in the first 48 hours after his election.
