WASHINGTON DC – As reported in the Washington Free Beacon, Illinois Congressman Bob Dold (R), one of the Republican congressmen introducing a gun control bill today, received millions of dollars in support from Michael Bloomberg’s gun control PAC.
The Independence USA PAC, which was founded by Bloomberg in 2012, supports candidates who support gun control laws that limit or remove citizens' Second Amendment rights. According to FEC records, the PAC has been funded entirely by Bloomberg since its inception, and has supported just a handful of candidates who are mostly Democrats.
Rep. Dold, however, has received nearly $3 million in backing from Bloomberg’s PAC, which gave $963,477 to Dold in 2012, and spent $1,925,410 in 2014. It is likely the left-wing Bloomberg will be investing more money this year as Dold again faces a serious election challenge.
