Continuing the Democrat Party's national push to take away the Second Amendment rights of Americans, 15 Dems in the Illinois House of Representatives filed a bill Friday that would allow the Illinois State Police to revoke and/or deny anyone a Firearms Owner Identification Card and to seize their weapons should that person be placed on terrorist watch lists.
The problem is federal terrorist watch lists are rife with errors, and includes thousands of people that have absolutely zero connections to terrorism.
If the gun-grabbing Democrats had their way, the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, if he were an Illinois resident, would lose his ability to own and touch a firearm because Kennedy was mistakenly put on a terrorist watch list.
The Democrats, from President Obama on down, are going after people's Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms, following the San Bernardino terrorist attack. The problem is neither Syed Farook nor his jihadi bride Tashfeen Malik were on any terrorist watch list, and worse yet, both got their weapons from a friend/neighbor.
The synopsis of the newly-proposed state bill, HB 4359, reads in part:
Amends the Firearm Owners Identification Card Act. Provides that the Department of State Police has authority to deny an application for or to revoke and seize a Firearm Owner's Identification Card (FOID card) previously issued under the Act if the Department finds that the applicant or the person to whom the card was issued is or was at the time of issuance a person named on the consolidated Terrorist Watchlist maintained by the Terrorist Screening Center administered by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Provides that if the Department of State Police has not received the Firearm Disposition Record within 5 business days after sending notice of revocation and seizure of an FOID card, the Department must send a second notice to the sheriff and law enforcement agency where the person resides. The second notice shall include the compliance requirements under the Act. Upon receiving the second notice, the sheriff or law enforcement agency shall report to the Department the status and efforts pursued regarding compliance under the Act. If the person whose FOID card has been revoked fails to comply with the requirements of the Act, the sheriff or law enforcement agency where the person resides shall (rather than may) petition the court for a warrant to search for and seize the person's FOID card and firearms.
Late Friday night the Illinois State Rifle Association said in an email:
Earlier today, hardcore antigun extremists in the Illinois House introduced HB4359 which would require you to surrender your FOID card and firearms if your name ever appears on the government's "NO FLY LIST." Obama and the gun grabbers would like you to believe that people on this list are too dangerous to own guns. If one accepts that simplistic view, then HB4359 might make sense to them. However, the thinking person will have a lot of serious questions about the no-fly list.
WHAT DOES HB4359 MEAN TO YOU?IF THIS BILL PASSES AND YOU EVER END UPON THE NO-FLY LIST:NO ARRESTNO TRIALNO JUDGENO JURYNO APPEALNO GUNS
