Illinois is in big budget trouble, but if there's any good news, it is that Illinois' financial condition isn't the worst in the nation, a new study released Monday from Open the Books says.
The study was done by comparing the number of state and local government workers, as well as pension and Medicaid recipients, to the number of private-sector and federal workers in each state.
Illinois' ratio doesn't top New York or California in Open the Books' "FeedMe Ratio," where the states' ratios exceed 100.
Illinois' FeedMe score is 81 and a half government workers for every 100 private sector and federal workers.
