Republican state Rep. Jeanne Ives, one of only 10 House Republicans to vote against Frank Mautino's nomination to be Auditor General, says that in the wake of campaign expenditure irregularities, and his refusal so far to answer questions or release more information that Mautino needs to answer those questions or resign.
Mautino, the 25 year Democrat state Representative from Spring Valley, and number 3 Democrat in the House when he took the Auditor Generals job at the start of the year, has come under fire because of hundreds of thousands of dollars in questionable campaign spending at a Spring Valley gas station, the local bank, at local restaurants, and over his campaign office lease and maintenance.
Ives wrote on Facebook:
Enough Already. The newly appointed Auditor General – who I did not vote for – needs to answer or resign. He has to date no explanation for this spending. The vehicle expenses and payments to the bank are the most problematic. And he refuses to comment himself.
Open The Books founder, Adam Andrzejewski in an op-ed in the Daily Herald Wednesday also called on Mautino to resign because of the problems found in Mautino's campaign expenditure reports.
