AURORA - Congressman Darin LaHood (IL-18) made his pick in the 11th CD GOP primary Wednesday by endorsing Tonia Khouri over primary opponent Nick Stella. The winner of the March 15th GOP primary will challenge Democrat incumbent Congressman Bill Foster.
"As a community leader, small business owner, and mother, Tonia knows that we need to get Washington out of the way of Main Street," said LaHood. "I am honored to endorse her in her run for Illinois' 11th district."
La Hood, who sits on the House Committee on Natural Resources, as well as the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology, is the first endorsement for Khouri at the Congressional level.
She has the backing of four Republican Illinois Senate members and nine Illinois House members, in addition to an array of district mayors, county board members and Republican rank and file.
"Our campaign continues to gain huge amounts of traction on every level and this endorsement is more proof that we're heading in the right direction," said Khouri. "Congressman LaHood is a great Illinois leader and I'm honored by his endorsement."
Khouri and her husband own a small business and she's active in DuPage County activities. Khouri lives in Aurora with her husband of 23 years and three children.
