NEW ORLEANS – Towards the end of 2015, antagonism towards law enforcement by the black community became a headline story. After the release of a video showing a Chicago cop shooting a black 17 year old on Chicago streets, calls for the resignation of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Cook County State's Attorney were shouted as "Black Lives Matter" activists held protests along Chicago's Magnificent Mile.
Nadre Enzi of Urban Safety in New Orleans says the reaction isn't helpful, and that there are two reasons why blacks shouldn't hate law enforcement: 1. necessity and 2. similarity.
"Black people and law officers are both minorities," Enzi says in a four minute video posted earlier this week. "There are key reasons why the stakeholders and the officers should work together."
Both groups feel they are targeted and discriminated against, Enzi says, and they both say that politicians ignore them and the media misrepresents them.
