ARLINGTON VA – The first of a new series of videos providing the details of second trimester abortions was released Wednesday by Live Action, a pro-life group. In the video, an obstetrician-gynecologist that performed 1200 abortions in the early phase of his career explains with the aid of illustrations how the procedure is performed.
It's time girls and women were shown the truth about what goes on inside their bodies during abortions, Live Action founder Lila Rose said.
"From our nine years of undercover investigations, Live Action has discovered that abortionists frequently lie to women about how developed their babies are, the brutality abortion inflicts on preborn children, and the risks abortion procedures pose to women’s health and safety," Rose said. "No one knows more about these lies – or how to unmask them – than an abortionist."
She says that’s why Live Action partnered with former abortionist Dr. Anthony Levatino who is now a pro-life champion.
"Our experience shows us that once people see the violent reality of what abortion does to a preborn child, it’s hard for them to justify it. This unique window into the womb dispels the myth that abortions remove 'clumps of cells,' and instead shows that they kill real children with beating hearts and forming brains at just 3 1/2 weeks gestation," Rose said in a statement.
Information presented in the videos is backed by peer-reviewed medical journals and has been developed and reviewed by practicing OB/GYNs, medical professionals, and former abortionists.
Live Action challenges pro-abortion lobbying groups to defend their promotion of late term abortions.
"I’d like to challenge the abortion lobby – Planned Parenthood, NARAL, and the rest – to respond to these videos," Rose said. "After seeing them, most people would have a difficult time telling a woman that abortion is ‘health care’ or ‘empowering. After seeing these videos, the public isn’t going to buy the rhetoric of the abortion lobby. In 2016, the 'war on women' and 'extremist' labels just won’t work."
