State Rep. Chris Welch (D-Chicago) has been targeted by the Liberty Principles PAC
CHICAGO – Liberty Principles PAC, headed by radio talk show host Dan Proft, invested thousands Monday into several more contested primary races – including a Democrat race in Chicago's 7th House District.
Incumbent State Rep. Chris Welch is being challenged by Democrat Chris Harris, and Liberty Principles bought $14,166.67 worth of newspaper advertising supporting Harris.
Earlier this week, in addition to Liberty Principles' funds, Proft wrote a check for $500,000 to Democrat State Rep. Ken Dunkin's campaign from the independent expenditure committee Illinois Opportunity Project.
All the other races listed with February 1st's donation are for Republican primaries – including Brandi McGuire, who is being challenged in the 72nd House District by Republican candidate Jordan Thoms. There's a four-way Democrat primary in that district to fill a seat being vacated by Democrat State Rep. Patrick Verschoore.
Liberty Principles PAC is backing Allen Skillicorn in a 4-way race in the 66th House District to fill retiring State Rep. Mike Tryon's seat, and incumbent GOP State Rep. Reggie Phillips in the 110th District.
They are also making picks in two Senate primaries – for Republican Dan McConchie in the 26th State Senate District and Paul Schimpf over conservative attorney Sharee Langenstein in the 58th.
