Having recessed from politics, I decided to put my travel experiences, understanding of cultural differences and global network to use for my friends through our Global Relations Travel Club (GRTC). Our first destination is the Republic of Cuba, a country I have visited a number of times. My maiden experience was in 1999.
We formed a relationship with one of only 3 Cuban government licensed travel operations that may deliver ground service to American groups. Our trips will be legal, "People to People" missions recognized by the U.S. Department of the Treasury.
I personally met with the Cuban operators who will handle our trips. I also reviewed the sites, paladors (privately owned restaurants-not government owned) and lodging we will use.
The trips will be 8 days, 7 nights. Our GRTC tours include all lodging, ground transportation, entrance fees, most meals, a GRTC American escort, Cuban guide, Cuban driver and one heck of a great experience!
Dates confirmed are: May 21-28, June 18-25 and July 23-30. There is a possibility we will later release September and November trip dates as well. Details are at: www.GlobalRelations.US. Follow the links under the Cuba Tab for full itinerary and prices.
There are no direct commercial flights to Cuba from the US. There are licensed charters, mainly out of Florida so one will need to be there the night before departure.
The island nation has been elusive to us Americans for over half a century, but with proper legal documents and preparation, it is doable. Cuba today is different from when I first visited almost two decades ago. It will be dramatically different in the not too distant future.
I already know there is high interest to participate in our trips. I hope you will join us.
