SPRINGFIELD – Illinois House Republicans tried to keep the Illinois House in session to continue working on a budget solution last Thursday, but House Democrats overruled the effort and adjourned until April 4th – a month long recess.
State Rep. Tom Demmer (R-Dixon) motioned to keep the process going. "If you vote yes, you're voting to keep working. If you vote no, you're voting to leave for more than a month and not come back until April…"
The chair ruled Demmer's motion out of order. The House stands adjourned to work on political campaigns leading up to the March 15th primaries:
