WASHINGTON DC – Illinois Congressman Rodney Davis (R) today announced that his amendment to prevent $4.2 million from going to the Office of Congressional Relations at the EPA was adopted late last night and will be included in H.R. 5538, Department of the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act.
Davis offered his amendment in response to a lack of inaction by EPA and the Office of Congressional Relations. CLICK HERE to view the amendment.
Background:
Davis and his staff have contacted the EPA on numerous occasions to get updates on the progress of implementing a provision he included in the 2014 Farm Bill. The EPA has yet to implement this provision and have failed to provide substantive updates on their progress.
Additionally, Davis has repeatedly asked EPA administrators for clarification on EPA guidance on permitting for above ground septic tanks under Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS) that conflicted with guidance provided by the EPA’s Region 4 office, which has been an issue for constituents in his district. It took four hearings and two and half years later to get the EPA to respond.
