PALATINE – According to Natasha Korecki at POLITICO, Republican State Sen. Matt Murphy is telling colleagues he plans to resign next week and head into the private sector.
Murphy, 46, has been a vocal critic of Democratic House Speaker Michael Madigan and a key advocate for Rauner in the General Assembly.
“Well, I can’t say anything today,” Murphy told POLITICO when asked about his plans. But he indicated a statement may come at a later time.
Murphy, an attorney, wasn't up for reelection until 2018.
