Liberty Counsel attorney Mat Staver challenges pastors to "replace the muzzle with a megaphone" and use their pulpits to teach their congregation about current issues, candidates' positions on those issues and encourage their members to go to the polls.
"No church has ever lost its tax exemption for involvement in these activities," he says in a new video released today.
He also exhorts pastors to not hide from controversies behind the IRS' intimidation.
"So if after you hear this, you decide not to address biblical topics, and a candidate's position on these topics, if you decide not to engage in this incredibly important discussion, don't blame it on the IRS, because that is your own personal decision for which you will be held accountable," Staver concludes.
"Replace the muzzle with a megaphone. Preach biblical topics. Encourage your people to vote and make a difference in your community and in our country."
