Chicago has a reputation of making political decisions in "smoke-filled back rooms" but that was not the case last week at the Bolingbrook Country Club. It was actually in a tent where WIND 560-AM, a local radio station, held their Cigar Night.
The event featured nationally syndicated conservative show host Dennis Prager and Chicago morning drive personality Dan Proft. They had a fireside chat as 200 loyal listeners heard their thoughts on the current political happenings with a focus on presidential politics.
Prager announced his support of Donald Trump for president yet admitted he was not his first choice. He said the choice boils down to two choices. "Door number one (Hillary) is man eating lion while door number 2 (Trump) is perhaps man eating lion." His point is conservative republicans have a better chance for their agenda with Trump over Clinton, who he called a "low life and a crook." Prager argued for reluctant conservatives, that voting for Trump was for the "greater good."
Prager was also promoting and signing his new book, "The Ten Commandments, Still the Best Moral Code." He says these words are the foundation of Western society and they should be studied much more closely.
Shaun Thompson had a booth displaying cigars from his new cigar store in Elmhurst. It was announced that he will be filling in all next week for Joe Walsh in the 5pm-7pm time slot at WIND 560-AM. He is better known as "Shaun from Elmwood Park." He calls in often to numerous talk radio shows, including the Rush Limbaugh Show and The Stephanie Trussell Show.
