WASHINGTON DC – This week, the National Association of Manufacturing awarded Legislative Excellence awards to 301 members of Congress – including nine from Illinois.
The NAM Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence honors members of Congress who demonstrate support for policies that enhance the ability of U.S. manufacturers to succeed in the global economy.
All those from Illinois recognized for their scores are Republicans – eight members of the U.S. House and one from the U.S. Senate.
Congressman Rodney Davis (IL-13) scored the highest, with a 100% rating. Next, at 98%, were Mike Bost (IL-12), John Shimkus (IL-15) and Adam Kinzinger (IL-16). Darin LaHood (IL-17) scored a 96%, Peter Roskam (IL-06) 95% and Randy Hultgren (IL-14) 93%. Congressman Bob Dold (IL-10) scored an 87%.
U.S. Senator Mark Kirk from Illinois scored an 88% on NAM's rating system.
The NAM's Key Vote Advisory Committee—composed of executives from small, mid-sized and large manufacturing companies—designates the key manufacturing votes to be included in the NAM's Congressional Voting Record. Members of the House and Senate who vote in support of manufacturing at least 70 percent of the time earn the NAM Award. At the end of each Congress, hundreds of NAM member companies host events to thank their legislators for supporting the policies that create jobs, innovation and growth.
