SPRINGFIELD – Governor Rauner congratulated the step-by-step progress he said the Senate and House made towards solving Illinois' problems in 2016 during his first Facebook Live presentation Thursday.
He said he will address the state's challenges at the State of State address on January 20th and the budget on February 15th – "a truly balanced budget with structural changes."
He was also optimistic that the Senate would also pass a permanent property tax freeze in the 100th General Assembly – and address several other questions viewers brought up.
Consolidation of local governments is a priority in 2017, along with MAP grant and early childhood education funding, he said, admitting frustration with the lack of budget agreement.
