CHICAGO – Black Illinois conservative Babette Holder told Illinois Family Institute that her research shows Margaret Sanger established the first Planned Parenthood clinics in black neighborhoods to minimize the growth of the African American community.
"We know that Planned Parenthood specifically targets the black community," Holder said in a video interview. She said the abortion providers use "the ills and the flaws with that community" to fund their program and, "mainly, their abortions."
Holder's comments were stirred by a bill moving through the Illinois General Assembly that would require taxpayers to pay for abortions in Illinois. HB 40 could be voted on in the Illinois House this week.
Five of the bill's 23 Democrat co-sponsors are African-Americans.
Holder said Sanger's mission was to eliminate "human weeds" – a term Sanger used – when she set up the first clinic near a black neighborhood in New York's Bronx.
