WASHINGTON DC – Thursday, President Donald Trump signed into law a measure granting states the right to guide health care federal funding away from Planned Parenthood and towards women's clinics that do not perform abortions.
"This is a huge deal for the Pro-Life Movement, because this is the first pro-life bill that has been signed into law in 14 years," a statement from the pro-life Susan B. Anthony List said. "This law will protect unborn children by allowing states to fund health centers that provide high quality health care for women, not abortion."
The bill was sponsored by Representative Diane Black (TN-6) and Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA).
The law affects Title X funding, which accounts for more than $60 Million of Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funding.
Susan B. Anthony List says that they intend to press harder against taxpayer funded abortion.
"Our next blow to the abortion giant will be to defund [Planned Parenthood] of nearly $400 Million of their Medicaid funding through reconciliation," the group said.
