On July 9, 1971 The Washington Post reported that in 60 years the world could face "a disastrous new ice age," according to a "leading atmospheric scientist." The scientist was Dr. S. I. Rasool of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration and Columbia University.
Later the environmental science community led by England's University of East Anglia would refer to "global warming" until that data became suspect and now the preferred term is "climate change" to explain any "pause" in warming data and shut up any dissent from scientists who do not agree with the prevailing opinions.
