CHICAGO – One of several Democrats that have launched gubernatorial campaigns to oust Republican Governor Bruce Rauner in 2018 lost his first major endorsement over the weekend.
State Senator Daniel Biss' pick for lieutenant governor was so offensive to Democrat U.S. Congressman Brad Schneider, Schneider withdrew his official support for Biss' bid to be the Dem's nominee.
Schneider explained the reasons for changing his mind about Biss' candidacy on a Facebook post. Those reasons included Biss' LG running mate Alderman Carlos Ramirez-Rosa's affiliation with the Democrat Socialist Party of America, and their antagonism towards Israel.
Ramirez-Rosa was featured as one of the DSA's 17 elected officials nationwide at a recent convention held in Chicago last month.
