SPRINGFIELD – Every election cycle, Illinois' capital city news outlets hold debates before the Democrat and Republican gubernatorial primaries. WMAY radio joins with the State Journal Register to ask questions and allow voters statewide to hear the candidates' responses.
The Democrat debate between the party's five primary gubernatorial candidates will be held in February. But Republican primary voters aren't likely to hear a debate between Republican incumbent Governor Bruce Rauner and his conservative challenger State Rep. Jeanne Ives (R-Wheaton).
WMAY says the governor's campaign said thanks, but no thanks, to their offer.
