ELGIN – It's fairly clear the IL GOP hatchet has not been buried after a contentious primary between the party's conservative base and the the party's liberal leaders with a story released by Dan Proft-owned North Cook News Monday morning.
The story exposes an unpaid property tax embarrassment for Cook County Commissioner Tim Schneider, who is also state chairman of the Illinois Republican Party. The online news site claims Schneider's Elgin car wash is behind over $21,000 in unpaid 2016 property taxes, and is scheduled to be auctioned off in early May if taxes remain unpaid.
The news comes out just as the IL GOP considers who will represent them on the State Central Committee. The election – made by elected precinct
Schneider has been unsuccessful in leading the party towards unity after turning the state party over to Governor Rauner, who has funneled millions of his own wealth towards party organizations as well as House and Senate GOP political action committees.
