Prior to Obama’s election in 2008, the Democrat Party removed God from their Party platform. However, party leaders apparently believed they may have made a political mistake and decided to reinsert God during their 2012 convention via a voice vote. This happened during a break time in which far fewer delegates were present. Those who witnessed this odd procedure on TV at the time pronounced the process as laughable. After three separate vote attempts, it was obvious the delegates did not want to include God in the party platform. Nevertheless, the convention’s frustrated chairman, Los Angeles Mayor Villaraigosa, pronounced that the “ayes” had won, even though an immediate eruption of “boos” from the delegates indicated otherwise.
That the Democrat Party had taken God from their platform was surprising to many viewers who were unaware their Party had changed from the one they embraced in the past. Even today there are Democrats who remain unaware that their Party now supports abortion, homosexual marriage, massive illegal immigration, and a myriad of other issues they would certainly not approve of, neither would America's forefathers.
Why did the Democrat Party reverse their stance on many social issues? Party leaders learned that by showing sympathy to specific groups, such as illegal immigrants, Democrat candidates won elections. The country’s growing Latino population gave the Democrat party an electoral edge, as do those who support the abortion industry
Democrats convinced themselves they didn’t need to reassure white people who were skeptical of immigration; instead, they just had to be sure they turned out their Latino base. This fast-growing sector of the American electorate helped Democrats elect Obama in 2008 and 2012. Democrats, having found a way to win elections, closed their minds to the cost and damage this new massive illegal immigration has caused our citizens.
Christians as Conservative and Republican Voters
Conservatives needed to find a way to counter the Leftist Democrats’ newly discovered voting group. Their challenge became to find citizens who disagreed with the changes in our nation's laws which legalized abortion and ignored established immigration laws. As Christians are largely conservative voters and want our laws to reflect biblical morality, they tend to support the Republican platform because it aligns more with biblical teachings and laws that our forefathers deemed essential for our success.
It is unfortunate that many Christians remain unaware of the differences between the two political parties, often voting for some candidates that have opposing political views and values than their own, due to not knowing how the candidates differ from their own political views and values. Many church leaders are aware of these facts but choose not to allow anything political into their churches. Perhaps this is one of the reasons why a definite decline of morality can be seen in this nation, for tolerance of immoral laws creates unintended consequences.
How many Christians do not even vote? Statistics indicate many do not vote, but while many do vote, the bigger issue is how Christians will mistakenly vote for candidates with whom they disagree on most every issue. Why? Because they do not know the facts. Is this their fault or is it due to confusing messages? For certain candidate's advertisements can't be trusted, thus making it difficult for the average voter to know enough about their ballot options to be assured they are voting in accordance to their own values.
Why don’t some Christians vote? The reason is often that they are unfamiliar with the candidates and wisely do not trust candidate’s ads on TV, radio, or in the mail. It is important to be an educated voter, but will church leaders see this need for their congregations and help by providing Christian Voter Guides? Will they use their pulpits to confront the seriousness of sin, identify that which may be legal but immoral, and explain that our nation has been on a moral decline for some time.
Lost is the Strong Moral Nation of Our Ancestors
We are no longer the strong moral nation our ancestors enjoyed. This must be reversed, but that will not be until our church leaders speak out and our citizens demand that our schools and government cease promoting that which is immoral. If our legislators continue to enact immoral laws and the public quietly tolerates blatantly inappropriate laws, practices, and media sources, America will cease to be the amazing nation we have enjoyed but will be able to pass along to future generations.
Mothers today squirm when taking carloads of kids to school and a radio advertisement suddenly promotes "enhancements for amazing sex." Few today openly lament the law which has allowed over 50 million babies to be murdered their mother’s womb. Could unwanted pregnancies be largely due to our schools teaching eleven-year-old children the different ways to have sex, how to apply condoms, and what to do if an unwanted pregnancy occurs? Does this new sex education in our schools prevent teen sex or does it instead encourage it?
Schools do not inform parents of all the material being taught their children in sex education. Some schools do not even allow students to “opt out” of radical sex ed. classes. Morals have been seriously compromised because good people have quietly allowed these types of negative changes to happen. The silence has caused moral decay. We no longer stand up for what is right or demand to stop what is wrong. It is easier to just ignore negatives, whether it applies to church leaders refusing to get involved with politics or Christians choosing to remain silent as sinful bills are passed into law.
Trump as the answer to Christian prayers?
Some Americans believe the election of Donald Trump, the only non-politician in the last election cycle, was a miracle. Perhaps it was an answer to Christian's prayers beseeching God not to take His hand of protection from America. Already President Trump has honored many of his campaign promises. In so doing the media and the opposing political party has severely maligned Trump, even though the public elected Trump based on those issues he promoted and his promises made while on the campaign trail.
Whether true or not, the non-political Trump is an opportunity for positive change. Will church leaders applaud his actions, such as being the only American president who followed through with the promise to move our embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem? Jerusalem has stood at the center of the Jewish people's national and spiritual life since King David made it the capital of his kingdom.
Has your church publicly thanked President Trump for that amazing brave action? This is not about political partisanship, it is about aligning with Christian values to remain a prosperous Christian nation … one nation under God. As stated by Kurt Schlichter at Townhall.com:
"Jesus was not some sort of whiny wimp who refused to confront the establishment and took comfort in his own righteousness while leaving others to do the heavy lifting. Jesus made people angry, because that’s what happens when you defy bad people. Being a Christian does not mean that you have to shrug and let the likes of Hillary Clinton be elected so she and her minions can fire up her anti-faith pogrom against those of us who dare worship God and not the elite she represents. Maybe you didn’t notice, but they do not accept the concept that we have any legitimate interests or rights. They hate us. And, if we are weak and stupid enough to allow them to take power, they will act on their bigotry and prejudices. Baking cakes is only the start."
Getting Involved as a Modern Warrior
Who among us will get involved? Will you? Will you encourage your church leaders to do so? God will hold Christians responsible for allowing America’s unchecked pathway of moral decline. Are we not to be the “salt of the earth” as we stand together to promote what we know is best for our nation’s survival? We are to be godly examples, not silent statues.
Our enemy wins when Christians do not vote for like-minded candidates. We must not forget the importance of freedom and God’s biblical principles set forth by our Founding Fathers. It is essential that we protect what God gave to us, and that requires vigilance. Leftists continue their unprecedented vicious attacks against President Trump, hoping to energize turnout for the midterm elections. This CBN News article emphasizes the need for Christians to counter those attacks and vote for Republicans.
May we all lean on our churches, asking them to behave as they did centuries ago, when churches fought for our independence from England. Read about the amazing Black Robed Preachers who fought for our independence and be inspired. Many of the colonial pastors in the days before and during our nation’s War of Independence exhibited courage and commitment. These men saw no contradiction between standing for the truths in God’s Word and the principles of liberty. In fact, they viewed the two as inseparable. These “black robed patriot preachers” fanned the flames of liberty as they not only encouraged their congregations to fight but were also willing to lead their men onto the battlefield to fight themselves.
We win with modern warriors who actively safeguard what our brave forefathers fought and died for to give birth to this amazing nation. That can and should be a message from every pulpit in America and is essential if our generation will be able to pass on to the next generation our amazing Constitution and the laws preserved for us by previous generations. For as Alexis de Tocqueville said: "Liberty cannot be established without morality, nor without faith."
It would make a major difference in our nation if every church promoted the voting process by allowing voter registration tables and providing Christian voter guides. If that is not happening in each of our churches, we must help make it happen. America will always remain a great country for as long as its citizens remain vigilant in choosing the best among us for their leaders.
