SCHAUMBURG – Democrat State Rep. Michelle Mussman (D-Schaumburg) is being challenged by a more experienced Republican candidate in 2018 – Jillian Bernas.
Bernas ran her first time two years ago, and lost in the northwest suburban district by 5,000 votes – 11 percent. This time she's hoping to take advantage of the public's distaste of House Speaker Madigan and turn the 56th House District red.
Bernas is holding a fundraiser Thursday night August 9th, 2018, featuring former Chicago Bears coach Mike Ditka at Ditka's Restaurant in Chicago. For more information, visit her Facebook Page.
This time, Bernas is focusing on repealing the 32% state tax hike, placing term limits on legislators and promoting job and economic growth.
Bernas is an international relations manager for a large medical association in Rolling Meadows, and serves as the Schaumburg Township District Library Trustee. She also serves on the Township Mental Health Committee, and as an ESL teacher at Church of the Holy Spirit.
