MONTGOMERY – After being diagnosed with cancer as recently as November 2018, IL GOP 14th CD Committeeman Stan Bond passed away Wednesday morning.
Bond, who also served as a Montgomery Village Trustee, was honored by Village President Matt Broiley. "I am deeply saddened today by the passing of our friend, Stan Bond," he said in a statement. "As anyone who knew Stan can attest, he fully embodied the qualities of a public servant. His deliberate, thoughtful and responsible leadership was matched only by his joyful sense of humor."
Kane County Young Republican leader Cody Holt, among many others, expressed sympathy on Facebook with a photo of Bond and himself at a GOP event, "Rest in peace Stan. I’ll cherish the time we spent together and will always value your mentorship. You are a great man and will be missed many!"
Illinois Review spoke with Bond after the November 2018 election, the day he said he was diagnosed with cancer. Earlier in the year, Bond stood with conservatives statewide that called for the IL GOP to stick to the conservative IL GOP platform – a position he consistently held.
Bond's funeral is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 16, with a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. and a funeral service following at 1 p.m. at Dieterle Memorial Home on S. Broadway. Officials said village flags will be lowered to half staff and bunting installed on all village buildings until noon on that day, the local Patch reports.
