BOLINGBROOK – It's that time of year when Illinois conservatives meet up to exchange ideas and hear from conservative powerhouses fighting the battle against Leftism throughout the US.
The Illinois Conservative Union's 4th Annual ICU Grassroots Activist Conference "Illinois: IN PLAY" will be held Saturday, August 24, 2019, 8 am until 4 pm at the Bolingbrook Golf Club.
The ICU exists to build and maintain a coalition of conservative organizations and grassroots activists throughout the state of Illinois.
"Our goal is to have a positive impact on the financial and moral trajectory of the state," the group's says on its website. "Conservative values and principles are time-tested, having a proven historical record of success in improving the lives of people around the globe."
Carol Davis, the group's organizer, says this year's theme "Illinois: In Play" was inspired by a piece written by Brietbart's Joel Pollack earlier this year saying that the radical movement of the Left is pushing states once thought of as "deep blue" in play concerning the presidential race. Pollack writes:
Minnesota, for example, is a potential pickup for Trump. The Republican ticket came within less than 2% of winning the state in 2016, and Republicans also flipped the 8th congressional district in 2018 — one of the only GOP pickups.
The deep-blue state of Illinois may also be in play, thanks to aggressive left-wing policies being pursued by an unpopular state government that could trigger a significant public backlash.
On Monday, state legislators put a constitutional amendment on the November 2020 ballot that would allow the state to move from a flat tax to a “progressive” income tax. Democrats have maintained for years that raising taxes on the rich is the only way to close the state’s persistent budget gaps, and have rejected spending cuts.
Illinois Conservative Union is organized as a not-for-profit 501(c)(4), non-partisan, Illinois Bona Fide State Civic Organization.
