The recent controversy over Tom Cruise's jacket in the new "Top Gun" movie is legitimate. Did you know that China is on track to become the largest consumer of movies in the world? And Hollywood is relying more and more on Chinese markets to make profits. That means our films are being written with China in mind. In order for a movie to be played in China the script must be approved in advance and in doing so American audiences are being submitted to censorship. We are being shown a view of China that is no different from Paris, or Britain, or Germany. Cruise's Jacket is just another example of how China influences the movies we see.
