CHANNAHON – Republican Congressman Adam Kinzinger (IL-16) represents a conservative part of Illinois, but doesn't hesitate to publicly criticize President Trump as he sees fit.
Trump's tweet referred to a comment made on Fox News Sunday morning by the pastor of the First Baptist Church of Dallas, Robert Jeffress. Jeffress used strong language during an interview in which he suggested a "civil war-like fracture" could be created if Congressional Democrats were successful in impeaching President Trump. The President drew attention to Jeffress' comments via Twitter after the interview.
Congressman Kinzinger said Trump's tweet was "beyond repugnant." For reminders, here's some "repugnant" synonyms: abhorrent, abominable, appalling, awful, disgusting, distasteful, dreadful, evil, foul, fulsome, gross, hideous, horrendous, horrible, horrid, loathsome, nasty, nauseating, nauseous, noisome, noxious, obnoxious, obscene, odious, offensive, rancid, repellent (also repellant), repulsive, revolting, scandalous, shocking, sickening, ugly – via Merriam-Webster.
I have visited nations ravaged by civil war. @realDonaldTrump I have never imagined such a quote to be repeated by a President. This is beyond repugnant. https://t.co/a5Bae7bP7g
