CHICAGO – Illinois' junior US Senator Tammy Duckworth won the hearts of both Left and Right as a female helicopter pilot that lost her legs while fighting for her country. Appreciation for her military service and sacrifice was a factor when she defeated former U.S. Senator Mark Kirk in 2016.
Three years later, and little by little Duckworth has revealed her support for radical Leftist causes – leaving behind any perception that as a veteran she would at least hold moderate views.
Duckworth's animosity towards judges that value preborn children raised its head once again this week in an email she sent out to donors. Duckworth attacked the new federal judge Sarah Pitlyk as:
- being appointed by President Trump,
- having clerked for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh and
- expressing concerns about "monetizing wombs," as one author says.
Duckworth told supporters that Judge Pitlyk "doesn't want women like me to become moms."
The founder of a children's rights group, Kathy Faust, defended Pitlyk, writing on December 9th that no one is "against infertility" like Duckworth imposed. Pitlyk's idea that babies formed in laboratories could have "grave effects on society" was taken out of context and misunderstood by the Left.
… She’s addressing the harm involved when babies are manufactured in laboratories. As I explained recently, “in vitro fertilization (IVF) is not a child-friendly process. It routinely involves eugenics transferring embryos with certain traits, use of ‘donor’ egg and sperm, sex-selection, the womb of a third party, and creating ‘surplus embryos’ which often spend years in frozen storage after the successful implantation of their genetic siblings.”
Still, this is what Senator Duckworth told her supporters:
I struggled for years with infertility. Without the help of medical professionals, advancements in reproductive technologies and In Vitro Fertilization (IVF), I wouldn’t be a mom to two incredible daughters today.
I am telling you such a personal story for two reasons. First, I want to be a part of erasing the stigma around reproductive struggles.
Second, I also share this because the Republican-controlled Senate just confirmed a federal judge who doesn’t want women like me to become moms.
Trump’s appointment and Brett Kavanaugh’s former clerk, Sarah Pitlyk, vilified women who have the audacity to want to become mothers with the help of IVF. She’s accused moms and dads who use surrogates of having “grave effects on society.” And still, Senate Republicans confirmed her to a lifetime appointment.
Pitlyk’s confirmation should remind all of us that if Democrats don’t take back the Senate next year, Republicans could confirm countless more unfit judges like her.
We can’t let that happen.
She then asked for donations to keep the Republicans from maintaining the majority in the U.S. Senate in 2020.
Duckworth won't face re-election until 2022.
