FRANKFORT – Hundreds stood on the four corners of Frankfort Illinois' intersection of Rt 45 and Rt 30 Saturday morning supporting President Trump, just days after the Democrats in the US House voted to impeach him.
The effort was organized by groups such as Will County Republicans, Will County Republican Women and United Southland Republican Women. Law enforcement reportedly told participants they estimated the crowd at 750.
"It was a great experience!! I was happy I was able to make it!!" said Rocky Ausec on the group's Facebook page. "I was amazed at the number of cars honking and giving thumbs up and shouting out support!! Yes, there were a few naysayers that passed by but they were outnumbered by at least ten to one, maybe more!! One other thing that bears mentioning, when we left the place was as clean as when we arrived, maybe even cleaner!!"
"What an experience! Loved having so many in cars and trucks go by waving, smiling, beeping their horns!!!" said Claris Van Kuiken on Facebook. "It was great to see support for a President who is fighting for us!"
Among those Republican candidates that appeared at the rally was Tim Ozinga, whose only primary candidate notified officials last week he was dropping out of the race. Ozinga will be running to succeed retiring State Rep. Margo McDermed in the 37th House District.
