UPDATE: Monday, Cook County GOP Chairman Sean Morrison released a statement condemning Arthur Jones' candidacy. See statement below.
CHICAGO – He says he left the Nazis in the 1980s, but Arthur Jones of Lyons, IL still denies the Holocaust and despises Jews. These days, he says he's a patriot.
And despite being condemned by the Illinois Republican Party in 2018 when he challenged 3rd CD Congressman Dan Lipinski, Jones just submitted petitions once again to run in the GOP 2020 primary in an effort to go to the US Congress.
Morrison's statement:
The Cook County Republican Party vehemently condemns Arthur Jones’ candidacy. His racism and bigotry have NO place in our party or American politics. That’s why, knowing that a monster like Arthur Jones doesn’t just willingly go away, we spent many months recruiting a strong, credentialed Republican candidate to run in the 3rd Congressional District. I believe we have found an outstanding candidate in Will County Board Member Mike Fricilone — a principled, conservative Republican — who will take on Dan Lipinski in November.
Incumbent Congressman Lipinski is being challenged by three other Democrats in their party's March 2020 primary.
Jones will compete against Will County Board member Mike Fricilione in the Republican Party primary.
