WHEATON – Illinois' 6th CD could swing back into Republican hands next November, a poll released by Republican candidate Jeanne Ives said Monday.
The campaign says an Ogden & Fry poll conducted on December 17 shows the former state rep leading incumbent Congressman Sean Casten in a one-on-one in Illinois’ 6th Congressional District. The poll was conducted districtwide regarding political preferences of candidates with 575 respondents.
While the 575 polled showed Democrats leading by five points in Henry Hyde's once-conservative district, Ives polled ahead of Casten by 10 points among likely voters. The Madigan Democrat machine has redrawn the 6th CD over the last two decades to include areas of Cook County that bring in more and more Democrats, while they are leaving the city of Chicago.
6th CD polling respondents were selected by random sampling of likely 2020 General Election voters. The margin of error for this poll is +/- 4.17% at the 95% confidence interval.
The results show that head-to-head, Ives leads Casten by 9 points (47-38 Ives) and that Casten’s re-elect number is under 40 (38.3%).
