Wednesday night America witnessed another historic moment as the United States House of Representatives voted to impeach the 45th President, Donald J. Trump. As the vote was talking place In Washington, D.C. the president held a "Merry Christmas Rally" in Battle Creek, Michigan.
Over 5400 were inside Battle Creek's Kellogg Arena, with thousands unable to come in as the local fire marshall stopped admitting people into the building about 90 minutes before the president took the stage. Many people were waiting for hours in 17 degree temperatures as the venue opened early at 3:00 p.m. – four hours before the president was scheduled to speak.
For me the most amazing thing about a Trump rally is talking to the people that attend. I spoke with at least 100 people during my four hours wait inside prior to the presidential speech. Everybody knows if you don’t come early, you might not get in. I was fortunate to be approved for a “official White House press credential” which allowed me to enter at a “media only” entrance with no line. The White House recognizes IllinoisReview.com as an important news source.
Saundra Kiczenski shown here next to me was first in line for the rally. She arrived two days before the rally. She and her friend Judy Chiodo camped out to make sure they were first in and were front and center of the stage. Saundra has attended 31 Trump rallies. he others in this photo were the third and fourth in line.
There was so much excitement outside as people waited in long lines to go through security checks before going inside. There were lots of vendors selling all kinds of Trump buttons, tee shirts and MAGA hats. I met a nice lady who had her own custom Trump earrings.
The program started with a prayer, the pledge of allegiance, and the national anthem. Trump campaign chair Brad Parscale warmed up the crowd while introducing a number of candidates and VIPs, including John James who running for U.S. Senate in Michigan. I had a chance to chat with James after his remarks.
