NEW JERSEY – A new Rasmussen poll shows more people think like Donald Trump does than Democrat candidate Bernie Sanders – who self-identifies as a Socialist.
That's notable – and could indicate how difficult it could be for a radical Socialist to win the majority of American votes.
For many Democrats, Bernie Sanders is the candidate who can beat Joe Biden for the Democrat Party’s 2020 presidential nomination.
But voters are less in sync with Sanders’ avowedly socialist views than those of his potential campaign rival, President Trump.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that just 26% of Likely U.S. Voters say Sanders’ views are closest to their own when thinking about the major issues facing the country. Twenty-four percent (24%) say their views are closest to the average Democratic member of Congress, while 41% are most in line with the average congressional Republican.
