Last week, President Donald J. Trump commuted the jail sentenced of former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich. Blagojevich spent nearly eight of a 14-year sentence in federal prison for government corruption charges. Tuesday night, "Blago" as some call him, left his cell in Colorado, flying back to Chicago after midnight. The following morning he held a news conference in front of his home in Chicago's Ravenswood Manor neighborhood.
About 500 people gathered nearby, including hundreds from the media. Some called the event a "media frenzy." The “circus” included many neighbors, activists, supporters, and even Ronnie "Woo Woo" Wickers, a well known fixture around Wrigley Field. Blagojevich took no questions from the media but upon leaving leaned over the rail and said to Woo Woo, “How bout those Cubs?
You can watch the scene on this YouTube clip.
The big news came out when during the press conference the former Governor declared himself a “TRUMP-A-CRAT” – a Democrat that will vote for Trump in 2020. Blagojevich thanked the president for his commutation multiple times during his presser. It looks like we will seeing much more of him in the future.
