SPRINGFIELD – Illinois is the nation’s epicenter in the production of disinfectants, cleaning products, sanitizers, sterilizers, soaps and personal protective gear used in the medical community and food production as well as by the general population.
The Chemical Industry Council of Illinois (CICI) has issued the following statement on behalf of the 46,000 people who work in Illinois' chemical industry:
Thanks to Governor Pritzker's ‘Stay at Home’ order, the 650 facilities in Illinois producing and distributing these valuable products will remain open with many plants running flat-out. In addition, numerous chemical companies are quickly shifting their product lines to manufacture the very products listed above.
"Rest assured, these valuable products will continue to be produced, will reach the shelves and will be available for Illinoisans as we navigate through this public health crisis. I’d like to thank Governor Pritzker and his Administration for their leadership,” said Mark Biel, president & CEO, Chemical Industry Council of Illinois.
