TINLEY PARK – Tuesday night, south suburban Tinley Park joined the growing number of Chicago suburbs that now require people to wear masks when going into "essential" businesses. Not cooperating with the new mandate could land a person in jail.
"Beginning Friday, businesses in Tinley Park will have to post a notice requiring the face coverings. If a customer does not comply, the resolution says, the police department should be notified and a warning is to be issued, the local Patch reports.
"Persons not following this declaration who previously received a warning from the Village of Tinley Park Police Department may be issued a citation for violation … or arrested at the discretion of the Chief of Police or his designee," the resolution states.
Other towns in the area that now require masks (as of April 24, 2020) include Wilmette, Highland Park, Northbrook, Niles, Morton Grove, Skokie, Cicero, Glenview, Deerfield, Evanston and Oak Lawn.
