Well, the Illinois Republican Party doesn't like the idea, but GOP State Senate candidate Tom McCullagh is inviting Trump fan/former Governor Rod Blagojevich to tell all he wants to tell at a fundraising event that will also feature Trump's 2020 RNC nomination speech.
McCullagh says the 49th State Senate district is fairly evenly divided between red and blue voters – and he believes he has a chance of picking up a seat for the Republicans that are struggling to stay relevant with a super-minority number in their caucus.
At one time, Republicans firmly held the State Senate majority. That was when the late Pate Philip was the GOP Senate Caucus chairman. Now Bloomington Senator Bill Brady heads the gang. And he seems content to stay right where he is – overseeing a shrinking, beleagured caucus.
Here's what the IL GOP said about the event this week – nothing about the event being sold out and a chance there could be a shift in location because the demand was growing as the word gets around.
To be clear: we have nothing to do with this event and we don't condone it. It's a bad idea. Republicans in Illinois are for cleaning up Democrat corruption that has plagued us for too long – not celebrating one of its most insidious characters. #twill https://t.co/sRjHFumhlz
