By Nancy Thorner –
One of our greatest conservative philosophers and authors of the 20th century, Ayn Rand, in her greatest work, Atlas Shrugged, sums up exactly where we are today with this quote from her novel:
When you see that in order to produce, you need to obtain permission from men who produce nothing – When you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors – When you see that men get richer by graft and by pull than by work, and your laws don’t protect you against them, but protect them against you – When you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice – You may know that your society is doomed.”
Themes of Atlas Shrugged
As to the themes and universal ideas explored in Atlas Shrugged , they include the following:
The Importance of the Mind
the mind enables creation and innovation and powers the engine of the world. Labor alone cannot achieve productivity and prosperity without the guidance of the mind.
Without the great thinkers, society spirals quickly downward. The economy collapses, and irrational looters seize power.
The Evils of Collectivism
When men are compelled, through collectivism’s forced moral code, to place the needs of their neighbors above their own rational self-interest, the result is chaos and evil. Incentive is destroyed, and corruption becomes inevitable.
The Need to Integrate Mind and Body
The mind-body dichotomy is rejected that the thoughts and achievements of the mind are pure and noble, but the desires of the body are base and immoral.
Ayn Rand
Ayn Rand, born Alisa Zinovyevna Rosenbaum on January 20, 1905, was a
Russian-American writer and philosopher. She is known for her two best-selling novels,
The Fountainhead and
Atlas Shrugged, and for developing a philosophical system she named
Objectivism.
Born and educated in Russia, Ayn Rand moved to the United States in 1926, She achieved fame with her 1943 novel, The Fountainhead. In 1957, Rand published her best-known work, the novel Atlas Shrugged. Afterward, she turned to non-fiction to promote her philosophy, publishing her own periodicals and releasing several collections of essays until her death in 1982.
Having grown up in Russia when the Communists took control, Ayn Rand saw firsthand the effect of how socialism morphs into a Communist dictatorship and denies freedom of everything we hold sacred; thought, speech, initiative, religion, property ownership, imagination, and movement.
Ayn Rand saw something special in America after WWII and warned us just how fragile unique political process was and how easily it could be denied through a slow and methodical process of corruption, deceit, and obfuscation.
The joint manifesto Joe Biden released with Bernie Sanders is 110 pages of radical far-left policies — from a job-killing $2 trillion climate agenda of the 'Green New Deal' of the former NY bartender Socialist Alexandria Cortez to eliminating cash bail and dismantling border protection.
Their manifesto betrays the working-class voters Biden claims to represent and destroys any pretense that he is a “moderate.” As Sanders has boasted, Biden would be “the most progressive president since FDR.”
Trump's re-election to counter progressives
Biden and the Progressives that control Biden are going to do everything they can to promote precisely what Ms. Rand warns against.
The only person in America with the capacity and tenacity to counter the Progressives in charge is Trump, who recognizes the threat from the left.
Ayn Rand was indeed a visionary to predict 2020 in her novel of 1957, Atlas Shrugged.
Today’s Progressives fingerprints are dominant in the work of Atlas Shrugged, as are the inevitable outcomes should the American people be so duped into voting for the Biden/Harris ticket.
In place of this nation's Constitution, the radical Left mandate will be foisted upon this nation and its people.
