CHICAGO – Governor JB Pritzker said Wednesday during his daily COVID-19 press briefing that Illinois reached a "solemn milestone" – 238 COVID-related deaths in 24 hours.
"We have far-surpassed our previous single day high report of 191 in mid-May," Pritzker said. Higher case numbers, higher hospitalizations end with higher numbers of deaths. "I offer my sincerest and deepest condolences."
Admitting some of these cases may be the result of delayed reporting after the Thanksgiving holiday, Pritzker urged Illinoisans to remain cautious.
"Wear your masks, keep your distance. STay home whenever you can. We'll get through this," he said.
