Several hundred people gathered last Saturday afternoon for a “Rescue Illinois” rally at the Daley Plaza in downtown Chicago. The focus was on reopening Illinois from the ongoing COVID lockdown ordered by Governor Pritzker.
The event was led by Chicago radio host and former state lawmaker John Anthony. His show is called “Black & Right” on Saturdays 1-3pm, live on WIND 560-AM. Also attending and speaking was Tom McCullagh who is interested in running for chairman of the Illinois GOP.

Other speakers included State Rep. Darren Bailey (R-Xenia) & businessman Gary Rabine, both which are floating the idea of running for Illinois Governor. Both have been very active in the "Reopen Illinois" movement.

Erich “Mancow” Muller, former radio host was not in attendance but some buzz that he wants to run for governor too.
Politico has a piece on it.
Another Chicago radio host, Amy Jacobson spoke about the importance of restarting Illinois youth sports. She can be heard daily 5-9am on WIND 560-AM. Amy has also been a large presence as one of the few journalists asking important questions at Governor Pritzker’s news conferences. She’s asking questions that other Chicago media won’t ask.
The group wants to reopen Illinois including indoor dining and kids back in the classrooms. The focus should be in protecting the vulnerable like nursing homes residents and not destroying jobs and commerce.
Many people here feel that Illinois needs to be “rescued” from people like Governor J.B. Pritzker and Mayor Lori Lightfoot. More rallies are being planned.
