WASHINGTON – Congressman Adam Kinzinger of IL's 16th CD congratulated Joe Biden on his inauguration Wednesday, just days after calling for Donald Trump's impeachment. Voters within Illinois' 16th CD are not happy with Kinzinger's comments and positions – so much so, a movement is simmering to censure the congressman.
Following the lead of Republicans in Congresswoman Liz Cheney's Wyoming district who unanimously agreed to condemn their US representative to Congress, Republican Precinct Committeeman Austin Davies called for Kinzinger to be censured.
The censure statement proposed concludes: … [T]he Winnebago County Republican Central Committee does hereby censure U.S. Representative Adam Kinzinger of the Illinois's 16th Congressional District and disavows him for his acts as stated above, as those acts contravene the values of the Winnebago County Republican Central Committee and its reverence for the Constitution of the United States of America, for which so many have paid the ultimate price to conserve and protect…"
UPDATE: KINZINGER CENSURE REMAINS ON TRACK, DESPITE REPORTS OTHERWISE
At the next Winnebago County Republican Executive Committee meeting on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at 6:00PM, attorney Austin Davies will present a censure resolution pertaining to acts by Representative Adam Kinzinger. The Executive Committee will decide as to whether or not it will be presented to the whole body of duly elected WCRCC Precinct Committeemen.
If at least twenty (20) members of the Executive Committee approve of the censure resolution, a special meeting of the WCRCC will be called to vote on whether to adopt the censure resolution. Adoption of the resolution requires a two-thirds (66.67%) vote, weighted based on the number of Republican Primary ballots cast in their respective precincts located within the jurisdiction of the elected official, Davies wrote to the committee members.
The quorum shall be based on the weighted vote total for the eligible Precinct Committeemen present for said special meeting exceeding two-thirds (66.67%) of the number of Republican Primary ballots cast in the most recent Primary Election within the jurisdiction of the elected official.
The wording of the censure is proposed as:
WHEREAS, an article of impeachment titled “Incitement of Insurrection,” against President Donald J. Trump was filed by the U.S. House of Representatives for the 117th Congress, on January 11, 2021, by House Resolution 24; and
WHEREAS, House Resolution 24 was approved by the U.S. House of Representatives on January 13, 2021; and
WHEREAS, said article of impeachment charges, inter alia, that President Donald J. Trump “repeatedly issued false statements asserting that the Presidential election results were the product of widespread fraud and should not be accepted by the American people or certified by State or Federal officials”; and
WHEREAS, said article of impeachment charges, inter alia, that President Donald J. Trump “willfully made statements that, in context, encouraged—and foreseeably resulted in—lawless action at the Capitol, such as: ‘if you don’t fight like hell you’re not going to have a country anymore’”; and
WHEREAS, said article of impeachment charges, inter alia, that President Donald J. Trump “gravely endangered the security of the United States and its institutions of Government. He threatened the integrity of the democratic system, interfered with the peaceful transition of power, and imperiled a coequal branch of Government. He thereby betrayed his trust as President, to the manifest injury of the people of the United States”; and
WHEREAS, without evidence that President Donald J. Trump committed any High Crimes or Misdemeanors, Representative Adam Kinzinger voted in favor of these articles to impeach President Donald J. Trump; and
WHEREAS, the charges in the articles of impeachment do not so much as state a prima facie case that President Donald J. Trump encouraged a violent uprising against the United States of America; and
WHEREAS, throughout the 2020 presidential election there had been widespread and credible accounts of voter fraud, some which have resulted in prosecution; and
WHEREAS, during the January 6, 2021 protest at the United States Capitol, Representative Adam Kinzinger made baseless, public claims that “This is a coup attempt,” that President Donald J. Trump is “not protecting the country,” and that “You are done and your legacy will be a disaster”; and
WHEREAS, video and photographic evidence suggests that Black Lives Matter or similar terroristic groups like Antifa instigated the violence at and incursion into the United States Capitol on January 6, 2021, the FBI has admitted it has evidence that the incursion was planned weeks in advance of the President’s rally and speech that took place on January 6, 2021, and on January 14, 2021, the day after the House approved the article of impeachment, Black Lives Matter organizer John Earle Sullivan, who can be seen disguised in photos on January 6, 2021 at the Capitol wearing a Trump hat, was arrested for his involvement in the violent acts that day; and
WHEREAS, in contrast to President Donald J. Trump’ largely peaceful rally of January 6, 2021, throughout the summer of 2020 Democrats—and allies—across the aisle from Representative Adam Kinzinger have continually called for violent uprisings and destruction of both personal and public property, including raising bail money for insurrectionist and terrorist groups; and
WHEREAS, on January 6, 2021 Representative Adam Kinzinger also released a statement dismissive of claims of voter fraud, stating that “the will of the people was made clear—Joseph R. Biden will be the 46th President of the United States [ ] . . . our Constitution, was upheld.”
WHEREAS, Senator Ted Cruz stated in his objection to the January 6, 2021 count of the electoral votes, “Recent polling shows that 39% of Americans believe the election that just occurred, “was rigged.” You may not agree with that assessment. But it is nonetheless a reality for nearly half the country. I would note it is not just Republicans who believe that. 31% of independence agree with that statement. 17% of Democrats believe the election was rigged [ ] . . . I urge you to pause and think, what does it say to the nearly half the country that believes this election was rigged if we vote? Not even to consider the claims of illegality and fraud in this election.”
WHEREAS, Adam Kinzinger refuses to consider claims of illegality and fraud in the 2020 presidential election; and
WHEREAS, at least four states, Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, under the pretext of COVID-19 mitigations, altered their election procedures through the executive and judicial branches of government, and in so doing violated Article II of the United States Constitution, which vests with each state’s legislature exclusive authority to determine the manner by which each state’s Electors will be chosen (see, the Motion For Leave to File Bill of Complain in State of Texas v. Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, State of Georgia, State of Michigan, and State of Wisconsin); and
WHEREAS, by the illegal acts of each of these States, the outcome of the presidential election was corrupted cannot be relied upon; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, the Winnebago County Republican Central Committee does hereby censure U.S. Representative Adam Kinzinger of the Illinois's 16th Congressional District and disavows him for his acts as stated above, as those acts contravene the values of the Winnebago County Republican Central Committee and its reverence for the Constitution of the United States of America, for which so many have paid the ultimate price to conserve and protect; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, the Winnebago County Republican Central Committee calls on Representative Adam Kinzinger to appear before this body at its next stated meeting to explain his actions to this body, the Illinois GOP, and the entirety of the concerned Illinois electorate.
More to come …
