SPRINGFIELD – State Rep. Mike Madigan (D-Chicago) is now "former Illinois House Speaker" after serving 36 years leading the Illinois Democrats and determining Illinois' finances and political climate. Wednesday, his Democrat caucus chose State Rep. Chris Welch as the new speaker.
