On March 16, 2021, I received an e-mail from my Canadian scientist friend, Tom Harris, indicating that his new science-based, not-for-profit site – in conjunction with the International Climate Science Coalition Canada – was now operational. Tom Harris is Executive Director of the science-based, non-partisan group.
Tom’s education was in thermo-fluids and energy sciences, and he has a Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Tom has 40 years of experience working as a mechanical engineer and project manager, science and technology communications professional, and media and S&T advisor to a former Opposition Environment Critic in Canada’s Federal Parliament.
For the past 20 years, Tom has been working with a team of independent scientists and engineers to promote a sensible approach to a range of energy and environmental topics, particularly in climate change.
As Mr. Harris explained to me, "The purpose of his new science-based, not-for-profit site with the International Climate Science Coalition Canada is to alert Canadians to the fact that the only climate policy that makes sense is adaptation to Climate Change. No matter what one believes about the causes of Climate Change, we cannot stop it."
Harris then steered me to a recent article of his, Adaptation a Sensible Climate Policy for Canada's Conservatives, which summaries the site's purpose.
