As to volcanoes: “Europe’s most active volcano, Mount Etna in Sicily, erupted seven times in the past two weeks. A large eruption started at Sangay volcano, Ecuador on Saturday. An earthquake swarm shook Mount Hood, a potentially active stratovolcano near Portland, Oregon for 45 minutes last week, raising concerns that the volcano was beginning to awake.”
“Mount Sinabung in Indonesia’s North Sumatra province began erupting last Tuesday, sending volcanic materials as high as 16,400 feet into the sky with authorities recording 13 times when it released ash clouds.”
“Three weeks ago, Fuego volcano, located 50 kilometers away from the capital city of Guatemala, started to erupt.”

Mount Sinabung Volcano
In Spectacular Fusion Indonesia's Sinabung Volcano exploded to 40,000 feet in 2010 after centuries of quiet. There have been more eruptions since: Sept 5, 2013 until Jul 15, 2018, and again in May 2019 and June 2020.
The most recent eruption was on Tuesday, March 2, 2021, ranking as one of the largest in years, sent volcanic materials as high as 5,000 meters (16,400 feet – almost 2 miles) into the sky and depositing ash on nearby villages.
Following the March 2nd eruption, activity at the Sinabung volcano in North Sumatra province increased, with authorities recording 13 separate blasts belching debris up to 16,400 feet above Sumatra. Indonesia has 130 volcanoes
Descent into next Grand Solar Minimum
On March 3, 2021, the Volcanic Ash Advisory Center (VAAC) "Darwin" is warning of a thick ash plume rising to 40,000 feet into the stratosphere having a direct cooling effect on the planet as it blocks the sunshine."
"As we continue our descent into this next Grand Solar Minimum the volcano's powerful eruptions may result in dramatic cooling of the planet & almost overnight. The recent global uptick in earthquakes and volcanic eruptions is likely attributed to the drop-off in solar [sun] activity, coronal holes, a waning magnetosphere & the increase in Galactic Cosmic Rays penetrating silica-rich magma."
Both NOAA and NASA appear to agree, if you read between the lines, with NOAA saying we’re entering a ‘full-blown’ Grand Solar Minimum in the late-2020s, and NASA seeing this upcoming solar cycle (25) as “the weakest of the past 200 years”, with the agency correlating previous solar shutdowns to prolonged periods of global cooling here.
What Benjamin Franklin Observed in 1784
An article in Scientific America, How do volcanoes affect world climate?, relates what Benjamin Franklin observed:
"In 1784, Benjamin Franklin made what may have been the first connection between volcanoes and global climate while stationed in Paris as the first diplomatic representative of the United States of America. He observed that during the summer of 1783, the climate was abnormally cold, both in Europe and back in the U.S. The ground froze early, the first snow stayed on the ground without melting, the winter was more severe than usual, and there seemed to be "a constant fog over all Europe, and [a] great part of North America.
What Benjamin Franklin observed was indeed the result of volcanic activity. An enormous eruption of the Laki fissure system (a chain of volcanoes in which the lava erupts through a crack in the ground instead of from a single point) in Iceland caused the disruptions. The Laki eruptions produced about 14 cubic kilometers of basalt (thin, black, fluid lava) during more than eight months of activity. More importantly in terms of global climate, however, the Laki event also produced an ash cloud that may have reached up into the stratosphere. This cloud caused a dense haze across Europe that dimmed the sun, perhaps as far west as Siberia.
In addition to ash, the eruptive cloud consisted primarily of vast quantities of sulfur dioxide (SO 2), hydrogen chloride (HCl), and hydrogen fluoride gases (HF). The gases combined with water in the atmosphere to produce acid rain, destroying crops and killing livestock. The effects, of course, were most severe in Iceland; ultimately, more than 75 percent of Icelands livestock and 25 percent of its human population died from famine or the toxic impact of the Laki eruption clouds.
Consequences were also felt far beyond Iceland. Temperature data from the U.S. indicate that record lows occurred during the winter of 1783-1784." End quote
Enter Bill Gates
Bill Gates is considering a venture to spray dust into the atmosphere to block the sunshine. He is financially backing the development of sun-dimming technology that would potentially reflect sunlight out of Earth's atmosphere.
John Kerry sounds the alarm
As John Kerry, Biden's special presidential envoy for climate, told CBS News' Ben Tracy on February 19, 2021:
"The planet is warming in large part because of greenhouse gas emissions that are pumped into the sky from power plants, cars, planes and industry. It even comes from the way we raise and grow our food. America is the second-largest emitter behind China of greenhouse gases that are warming the planet."
"That warming is believed to make storms stronger, droughts drier and oceans higher. That means certain places on Earth where people currently live will become unlivable. In fact, it is already happening."
“Well, the scientists told us three years ago we had 12 years to avert the worst consequences of climate crisis. We are now three years gone, so we have nine years left."
Green New Deal
"The main goal of the plan is to bring U.S. greenhouse gas emissions down to net-zero and meet 100% of power demand in the country through clean, renewable, and zero-emission energy sources by 2030. The Green New Deal also calls for the creation of millions of jobs to provide a job guarantee to all Americans, along with access to nature, clean air and water, healthy food, a sustainable environment, and community resiliency."
The Green New Deal was the centerpiece of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's (D-NY) campaign when ran and won her U.S. House seat in 2019.
As to cost, it could tally between $51 trillion and $93 trillion over 10 years concludes American Action Forum, which is run by Douglas Holz-Eakins who directed the non -partisan CBO from 2003 to 2005.
Although President Biden disavowed the Green New Deal while campaigning, Biden’s latest climate executive order, Tackling the Climate Crisis at Home and Abroad, adheres closely to its framework detailed by Dana Nuccitelli in her article of February 3, 2021, Biden's climate executive orders are a mini-Green New Deal.
“Imagine a deployment of federal investments to curb U.S. greenhouse gas emissions from various sectors including electricity, transportation, and agriculture, with the goal of creating millions of jobs and an eye on correcting environmental injustices in the process.”
"Though smaller in scale, given that executive orders only apply to federal agency actions rather than the nation as a whole, this effort could reasonably be described as a mini-Green New Deal.”
Man’s folly
How foolish is man not to go with scientific evidence but to depend instead on political rhetoric meant to control all aspects of our lives.
Should evidence of an approaching cooling period come to fruition, the present call for green energy will prove to be catastrophic.
Wind and solar power are poor substitutes for fossil fuels. Additionally, when the wind doesn't blow and the sun doesn't shine, back-up power is needed to keep the lights on and businesses humming away.
Nuclear power would prove to be a good substitute for wind and solar power. It's green energy, cost effective, safe, and facilities can operate for many years after the original investment. How foolish is man to allow politics to define this nation's energy needs, which will only increase in future years.
May eyes be opened so saner minds can prevail. May the truth prevail before irreparable damage is done.
